Light of Life

Hi guys! So for my religion class we are supposed to share what we have learned with some people we know. And I feel that what I learned this week is a real eye opener. I guess it is one of those things that you always knew but you never really thought about it before. As part of our reading assignment we had to read section 88 of the Doctrine and Covenants. In the first part of this section mainly verses 6-13 it talks about the light and power of Jesus Christ. In verse 6 it states "He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things…" when I read this I was a little confused but I remembered we had this awesome Sunday school lesson that talked about the same thing. In Hebrews 2:9 it talks about how Jesus was higher than angles but he was also lower than angles. I wasn't sure how this could be. The teacher taught us that when Jesus came down to earth and was mortal he was made lower than the angles, but once he was back in the presence of the Lord he was higher than the angles. If I am on the right track I believe that this verse here is talking about the same thing. He was on high but he descended below all things when he came to earth to live. I thought this was a very powerful statement. I never really thought about Jesus giving up all his glory when we came down to earth, it was a big sacrifice on his part. I know that Jesus did what he did for us and because he cares for us.

One day as I was reading this book called Breaking Point by Jennie Hansen there was this quote that really struck me. It reads:

A thought occurred to him, something he'd never once considered before. Jesus suffered pain beyond human comprehension. Might He have quit if only His own future had been all that was at stake? Was it the love He bore for His smaller, weaker brother and sisters that made His heroic sacrifice possible?

I love this quote it really makes me love Him even more and make me more grateful for what He did so that I might be able to live my life and make it back to him.

I really liked how the scriptures when and talked about how Jesus is the light of all things. It is because of him that these things have light. I would like to believe that the sun the stars and all the lights are given us as reminders to remember why we are here and who is always watching over us.

Many different people have different definitions of light and how it is interpreted. We were asked to talk about how light was though about in our major. In my major, nursing, I believe that we have two main ways we think about light. We use light to help us see things in the room when we do procedures or when we are in the operating room and the surgeon and the staff need the correct amount of light to best be able to see what we are doing. But mainly when I walk into a room that is full of light I think of it as clean. The operating room which is where I spend most of my time is so bright and full of light and the whole room has to be sterile to prevent infection. So for me I think of light as a guidance to help me see better and also as being clean.

I also think of light in the fact that everyone has a light in them. When you work around a lot of sick people you can see their lights get a little dim as they start to lose hope. As a nurse it is my job to give them hope and help me get their lights back. That is probably the most rewarding part of my major. I love helping people and seeing them happy and smiling you can see their inner lights shine brighter and get stronger. As a person who gets to help people get back their lights I need to be careful that I don't do anything that dampens my light. I need to be able to have a close relationship with my Heavenly Father to keep my light growing strong.

As I go through this religion class I am learning new things every day. I am so excited to be learning so much. My blog may take a turn and I may be sharing what I learn quite often. I hope that as I share my thoughts and feelings I can help strengthen those that read this as well. I know that Jesus Christ is my elder brother who suffered for me. I know that He made light so we might be able to remember him and come closer to him. I encourage all of you that read this to study and read your scriptures. I have a strong testimony that reading helps come closer to the Lord.

I know I am way behind in updating my blog but now I have oodles of time that I have no idea what to do so I figures I could work on catching up with my life. Well I this past semester was my last semester of the nursing program. There were some times I was not quite sure I would finish but I made it. In fact I took the NCLEX today. Unfortunately they don't let us know our scores for two days… so hopefully on Saturday I have good news. Until then I will try to wait and see how things go.

Well it is hard to retell the entire semester but I can think of some highlights. One day at the hospital for clinical one of my patients sons asked me on a date. Yes he was very good looking, but the school has strict rules about giving out our personal information so I declined the offer but told him that I was studying up at Ricks so he could always look for me there. Afterwards we told our teacher (who is really nice) and she was like where is he!! I will give him your number and set you up… it was pretty funny.

I spent most evenings with my friend Justin, it was nice to have someone to hang out and just talk to. That and it was fun to hear about how he was going to propose to his girlfriend. She is one lucky girl. Pretty soon July was here and it was time to graduate. I passed the exit exam which I was very happy to have that stress relieved. Mom and dad, Chris and Liz, LaCie, josh, Sarah, and Yana all flew out to come to my pinning and graduation and then we enjoyed a week of fun and laughter. Putting all the price family together in a room can get really loud and you will have strong stomach muscles from laughing so much. I love the fact that we all get along so well. I was very happy with the fact that I was able to go water skiing and wake boarding. One of my favorite things that I don't always get the chance to do.

Now I am in California visiting my parents for the 7 week break. I love it!! I get spoiled and get good ole home cooked food. I reckon I will have some major adjusting to do when I head back to school. I love getting to spend time with mom and dad. I forget how nice it is to live with them and always be able to talk to them without having a phone to my ear.

It is defiantly different here than in Idaho. But it has it pluses and I have been able to meet new people. (hint hint to those who know) and it is refreshing to get back on my feet and start distressing. Two years of nonstop stressing started to make me lose my funess. This is not a good thing. I am beginning to find it. One of my favorite things to do is go to dads work and write him notes on his white board that the guys tease him about…

Yesterday mom and I went to the dentist and I thought they were going to pull all of my teeth and hang them on the wall. They were amazed that someone could have teeth like mine and have them be real. The dentist kept asking me if they were real. Then we wanted to know who did the orthodontics on them... I think he had every worker in there come and check out my teeth. It was really weird. But at least I now know to cherish my teeth because they are amazing J after we went to the dentist mom and I took an adventure to San Diego to spend the night there so I could take my test this morning.

The drive was amazing!! The mountains here are made of rocks. I know you think that every mountain is made of rocks. But these are actually rocks piled on top of each other into mountains. I have some pictures but until I can figure out how to put them on here you will just have to Google it I guess. They were beautiful, in their own way. It amazes me how different two states can be but how each one has its own magical beauties. Anyways mom and I made it safely and I took my test and when I was finished we drove to the temple. And for those who may have never seen pictures of the San Diego temple look it up. Although pictures don't do it justice at all. It was defiantly built to house a king. It looks like a castle. My mom tells me who beautiful it looks. When I am able to go through the temple this one is on my list to see. I actually told mom that I wanted to get married there. I would have my own fairytale weeding complete with a castle.

We drove home and on the way I got to see the ocean and sea world. Hopefully I will have time to go there while I am here if not that gives me an excuse to come back and visit them.

It is nice to be home and relax. But school time is fast approaching and I am not quite sure I am ready to go back.

Final Countdown

It is amazing how fast time flies! I cannot believe I am in the final semester of the nursing program. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was the scared little freshman here on campus, and no my time is getting close to being over. I am excited to be done and be graduated but at the same time I am nowhere ready to be done. But instead on focusing on that I will focus on the here and now. I have pretty nice classes this semester. I am taking guitar and it is fun to learn new things, even though it is definitely harder than I ever imagined and my fingers hurt a lot from the strings. I hope that I can get pretty good and that I will be able to do well in the class. My nursing classes are the same as ever, full of work and really hard. I love my religion class so much. It is so amazing! It is the doctrine of the Gospel class. I thought it was for new converts, but I was wrong almost everyone in my class are RMs and are married. We take the doctrines and really study them. I am learning so much even after 2 classes. I love my teacher too so that is a bonus. Then I just have my micro lab which my teacher is pretty funny. My last class is my nursing project class. My project is how exercising and eating healthy effect your school work. It has been fun to do and hard also. But going to the gym clears my mind. And I can already see the effects of going to the gym.

We have some cool guys that have moved into apartment 44, which is who we normally hang out with. They are super nice and we have had a lot of fun in the past week of school. Last Monday we went out to the shotgun well. It is a cool well that sounds like a ricochet when you drop a rock down it. Then this past weekend we played Frisbee and catch, we are planning on getting a bat so we can have a real game. Then yesterday after ward he we went and played basketball. And we have a little devotional group. I am glad that I have been able to meet new people to help keep me insane. But don't worry mom and dad I will balance my time with them and my time studying.

On a sadder note it seems as though I have lost my gym partners. Le only goes with her boyfriend Aaron now and I got kicked out of going with them, and Cassie either goes without me or is with Amanda. So I guess I have to get over my fear of going alone. Oh well it will make me stronger.

Well that is about all I can think of now. There is the update on my life. I know this semester will be a ton of fun!!

Double Date

So my apartment was having a bad day about not being asked on dates. Instead of moping around I decided to try to make them happy! So I came up with the idea of having a roommate double date, where we girls ask the guys. By the end of the planning we had two roommates drop the date because they had other things going on. The date still went on and we had a ton of fun. When we went and picked up the guys we all picked up someone that wasn't our date and we blind folded them so they wouldn't know where we were going. I think that having someone pick them up that wasn't their date really confused them. After driving around time for a while we went to our apartment and unblind folded them. It was really fun. We then all wore aprons and made homemade little pizzas. That was a ton of fun. While we waited for the pizzas to cook we played the M&M game. Where it is a race trying to get the most M&Ms into the cup using a straw to suck them up and having a hand behind your back. We also played the Oreo game. Then we ate dinner and then we made homemade ice cream where you make it in a zip lock bag and toss it back and forth. But it really turned into a throwing game where we were basically chucking the ice cream at each other. This was really fun and the ice cream was pretty good too. We finished off the night playing the skittle game with dice. Our cheeks were sore from holding all the skittles in. Over all it was a fun night! Something we will have to do again!

Time to Catch Up

Man during school I did not realize how time flew by so quickly. I got really far behind in my blog. So now that we have a week break I figured it was time to finally update. This semester has been crazy busy, but quite possibly my favorite semester in nursing thus far. We got to study OB and Peds. It was very interesting to learn all of the things that are different with infants and children. I never knew that there were so many medical differences. Anyway no one really cares about what I am learning in nursing, so let's get on with other things.

This semester was the semester for people to get married. Liz and Chris got married and their wedding was AMAZING!!!! I loved it and having the whole family together again. She looked beautiful! I am so lucky to have lacie and Chris added to our family because they are both amazing and they fit into the family so well. It is fun to see our family grow and to have everyone get along. I do not understand why people always say they don't like their in-laws. They are crazy! It is also sad that I am the last one left, but makes me happy because that way my entire family can be in the temple with me when I get married… that is once I actually get asked on a dateJ

We had a nursing trip where we had to go down to Utah to tour some different hospitals and of course I had to go see my friends that I haven't seen in forever!! It was amazing I just wish I was able to see Katelyn because I haven't seen her in FOREVER!! But I was able to see Cassie Heap and Lot Slade J Cassie picked me up from the hospital and we were supposed to meet lot and the Marriott center for the BYU basketball game. I was super excited to be able to see JImmer in action but by the time we got there the game was sold out and we were not allowed into the center. So Cassie and I walked up to the temple and then around campus and back to her place. It was so much fun to be able to catch up with her. I never realized how alike we are and how much we can just talk and talk. Finally lot got done with the game and came and got us and we went to get ice cream at the Malt Shop. It was really good and fun to just be together again as a group. I am really hoping that we are able to do it again soon.

FRIDAY!!!!

So friday will be a great day and a sad day at the same time. A great day because i get to see my family that morning, and because i finally get to go to Kansas with Cassie!!!! It will be so much fun. although i am neverous about flying home. but hey all new experiences right. It will also be sad because the semester is ending and so are new friendships. I really have started to find my way and hopefully get things figured out when some people have to leave. But it is all part of the Lords plan and he knows what he is doing. I just hope to be able to keep in touch with those who are leaving to go home.

That sucked! :)

It amazes me how much one can learn in a single weekend. This past weekend I had dad teach me how to drive stick. the best part other than spending time with dad was when i stalled the truck for about the 10th time, he said well that one sucked:) it definaltly made my day, he never got mad in fact he laughed about it a lot. I love that fact that I can always rely on my family! On monday i also thought i would return the favor of them always making me breakfast. So i tried to make breakfast. Tired being the key word:) i was tyring to hurry and get it cooked before they got off the computer with josh and laice. So me not knowing you cant cook bacon on High ended up burning the first batch of bacon. but dad came and saved the day and helped me cook it. and mom helped me not burn the french toast. Nevertheless it was a good morning. The best part was waking grandpa up and telling him breakfast was ready when he said "is the banana cake ready too" i was so confused. he said that i said i would make it. come to find out he had been dreaming about the banana bars that we said we were going to make for the 4th but never did cuz we didnt need them for the dinner. so we made them anyways! I LOVE making things for my family. I feel it is the best way to show how i love them. I like to see their faces or how they act when i do something for them. This weekend overall was just perfect! I had so much fun wiht my parents and grandpa! I am so lucky to have the life i have!! Thanks Family!!!!! I also got to sign the ABCs with Sarah over the phone. She is so fun to talk to over the phone:) And lacie we got to sing happy birthday too. Going to Marilyns house and watching a movie with steven then watching the fireworks. This weekend was exactly what I needed in order to get through the rest of this semester!
